The Siadaks

Georgia and I have arrived in Virginia by way of 8 1/2 years travelling around courtsey of Uncle Sam's Canoe Club...otherwise known as the United States Navy. We started out in Northern Virginia and decided the insanity up there was too much for us to handle. Culpeper was our next destination. It was just a little too rural to suit us. We ended up here in the metro Richmond area and must have liked it, as we have been here for about 20 or so years.

I have had a motorcycle in my life for periods of time since I was 16 years old. Georgia was introduced to them by my brother who felt that she needed a thrill ride. Let's just say that when I got a 650 Honda Nitehawk, when our son moved out, she was less than enthusiastic and wanted no part of being a co-rider. She eventually relented and took a short, slow (2nd gear) ride around the block. We progressed to the highways in the surrounding area. It became readily apparent that there was too much of us and not enough seat. Good friends Ted and Ethel Nelmes (CD's VA-D) kept suggesting that we get a Wing. Ted agreed to take a somewhat tenative co-rider for a short trip to see if she would consider something like a Goldwing. The rest as they say is history. A 1994 Aspencade was soon part of our lives and we became active with GWRRA. We have recently acquired a 2004 1800.

Since we joined GWRRA in 1999, we have met many wonderful people, gone to places we never dreamed that we would go to, dressed in somewhat questionable attire at times, and have driven our kids nuts by going all over the place on the bike. (It is us who have to call to let them know that we have arrived safely.) We have participated in Rider Ed since we joined GWRRA and are currently at Level 4. We both believe that what we have learned in various courses and seminars we have attended has helped make us safer riders.
