Our District Couple of the Year

Hello Gold Wingers! We’re Gayle and Tommy Wilson and we’re looking forward to our year as the VA District Couple of the Year. We hope to visit all the chapters in the State and look forward to meeting as many GWRRA friends as possible. While doing this we hope to increase the understanding of, and involvement in, the Couple of the Year Program. We’ve really enjoyed out time as Chapter COY and know that there are many more great times ahead!

Tommy grew up in Nassawadox on the Eastern Shore of Virginia while Gayle grew up outside of Greensboro, NC. We met in college at North Carolina State University. We have been married for 30 years and have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Tommy has worked for ExxonMobil for 25 years and we have lived on the Eastern Shore, in Charlotte, NC, Hattiesburg, MS, Ruston, LA and now in Warrenton, VA. Gayle worked as a reinforcing steel detailer, both in house and as an independent contractor.

We bought our 2003 Candy Apple Red Gold Wing in December of 2003 and immediately joined GWRRA. We began attending chapter gatherings while in Louisiana but did not become really active until we moved to Warrenton in 2006. Chapter Y in Leesburg welcomed us in and we have served as Chapter Treasurers and Road Captains for the 2011 Chapter of Year. We are Level 4 Riders who love to ride and have ridden in 45 states so far and hope to get to the last 5 soon.

In addition to riding motorcycles, we enjoy collecting and restoring old tractors and old clocks. We have 6 of the former and more than 20 of the latter. Even though the children are grown and gone and the Goldwing is quiet, it can still get pretty noisy at our house.
